Reiki

what is reiki?

Reiki, pronounced ‘ray-key’ is a complementary therapy which was originally devised in Japan by Dr Mikao Usui at the turn of the twentieth century. It is a gentle non-invasive therapy that promotes harmony and balance within the mind, body, emotions and spirit.

The term Reiki originates from the Japanese language, ‘rei’ meaning universal and ‘ki’ meaning energy; it is this universal energy that is channelled through the therapist’s hands to the recipient of the treatment. Recipients of Reiki treatments remain fully clothed, either lying down on a therapy couch or sitting in a chair.

I am trained in the Traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho Teachings and my lineage can be traced back through only eight generations directly to Dr Mikao Usui.

what conditions can be treated with reiki?

Reiki works on all levels of mind, body, emotion and spirit to create a state of deep relaxation, harmony and balance which in turn may assist the body’s own natural healing responses to occur.

Reiki is suitable for all and can be beneficial in regards to all ailments and diseases…

Treatments can be adjusted to suit the needs of each recipient and can be given either lying down or in a seated position; this combined with the gentleness of the therapy, means that Reiki is suitable for all and can be beneficial in regards to all ailments and diseases.

Reiki can be safely used in conjunction with conventional medicine and other holistic therapies. I am happy to work alongside doctors, consultants and other holistic therapists in order to ensure the best possible care for you. If you are currently dealing with any health concerns please discuss this with me during your initial contact.

what to expect during a reiki treatment?

I will begin by taking a brief medical history and if this is your first Reiki treatment I will describe what happens during the treatment to you, there will also be an opportunity for you ask me any questions that you may have.

treatment costs…

  Initial treatment: £36 including consultation and treatment (approximately 1 1/2 – 2hrs)

Subsequent Treatments: £33 including chakra and hara balancing (approximately 1 – 1 1/4hrs)

I will then ask you to lie back on the treatment couch under a blanket, close your eyes and relax. If for any reason you find it uncomfortable or are unable to lie down for a prolonged period of time it is possible for you to be treated whilst sitting. I will now begin to treat you by placing my hands lightly over the energy centres of your body; there will be some points where my hands will lightly touch your body, at other times they will hover just above your body. Reiki is a non-intrusive therapy ensuring that you will feel comfortable at all times.

Everyone experiences Reiki differently although most seem to agree that it is deeply relaxing and inspires a sense of wellbeing which can sometimes last for several hours after the treatment. The majority of people experience Reiki as a feeling of warmth emanating from the therapists hands although occasionally the energy may feel cold. Sometimes as energy blocks are released the recipient might experience the gentle release of emotions and memories which have come to the surface to be healed. The calming effect of Reiki on the mind can also assist with and allow clarity of thought enabling those facing problems to uncover new and previously unseen solutions.

Reiki works on all levels to promote harmony and balance within the mind, body, emotions and spirit and in so doing encourages and supports those who wish to make positive life choices and changes.

The benefits of a Reiki treatment are numerous and always positive

The benefits of a Reiki treatment are numerous and always positive. On rare occasions a healing reaction may occur. This may take the form of a slight cold, tiredness or emotional release and is just the body’s way of releasing toxins and unwanted stale energy. The symptoms will be short-lived and are not serious. Reiki will always only give you the healing that you need and can only be positive for you.
