Aromatherapy

aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of volatile plant oils including essential oils for both psychological and physiological well being.

Each of the oils also has its own pharmacological properties…

The essential oils used in aromatherapy are plant based volatile oils that have been extracted from the flowers, leaves, stems, buds, branches or roots using steam distillation, water and steam distillation, cold pressing, maceration or solvent extraction.

Inhalation of an essential oil stimulates the limbic system of the brain, which influences emotions and memories, and is directly linked to the hypothalamus, adrenal and pituitary glands; parts of the body which regulate heart rate, blood pressure, stress, memory, hormone balance and breathing. Each of the oils also has its own pharmacological properties which mean that essential oils are a valuable ally in assisting the body, mind, emotions and spirit to regain a sense of balance.
